Good start into 2018 for Zongwe FM in Sinazongwe / Zambia

Zongwe FM station manager Kennedy Kein wrote on 19th January: "our radio has been granted a funding by the (Rural District) Council to build the new radio station up hill (on the Boma). We therefore ask for material support such as adjustable microphone stands, microphones and just other things you mighty think of supporting the radio station. Regards to all the friends in Austria".

Also in early January Claudia Wegener from RadioContinentalDrift visited AZFA and the Free Radio stations FRO in Linz and FRS in Bad Ischl / Upper Austria. In due course she met also with Peter, Sandra and Mario, pioneering supporters of Zongwe FM, who were instrumental in setting up respectively upgrading the station in 2007 and 2013.  They held discussions how to coordinate their efforts and raise funds for a relocation of Zongwe FM’s transmitter to achieve a wider outreach and range of on-air broadcasting. Some radio professionals from Free Radio Stations in Austria are also keen to come to Sinazongwe in the near future again to join the project for some training and capacity building exercises.

At the end of Claudia's visit the FRS Free Radio Salzkammergut CEO Mario Friedwagner and his team handed over some radio equipment for Zongwe.FM: 2 field recorders, 2 headphones, 1 microphone and 1 netbook with audacity cutting program. Twalumba!
