Exhibition Patrick Mweemba

Image A music workshop participant from Choma / Zambia, Patrick Mweemba, staged an exhibition of some of his work (wood and linocut prints) at the Binga BaTonga museum.

 Patrick Mweemba is one of the better known Zambian artists. He was born in 1946 in Siciimbwe village in Chief Monce area, in Southern Province of Zambia. In Lusaka, Patrick Mweemba became a founding member of the Lusaka Artists Group. This brought together a number of self-taught artists. He established himself primarily as a graphic artist although he also practises painting and sculpture. Patrick excels in linocuts and woodcuts which chronicle daily life as most Zambians experience today, caught between traditional and modern norms and values. Patrick Mweemba has exhibited within Africa and beyond. His works have been displayed in Zambia, Zimbabwe, Sweden, Cuba and United Kingdom. Patrick was invited to take part in the recent music and computer workshop at Binga ITC and staged a succesful exhibition at the BaTonga Museum in Binga at the same time.
