KADE and Clubheadbangbang invite amateur & professional photographers to submit their positive images of urban or rural Africa for inclusion in this exciting community-based event and exhibition.

The third, annual Visions of Africa 2010 will take place as part of national Africa Day celebrations and is funded by Irish Aid.

The aim of the event is to challenge perceptions of Africa and promote a more comprehensive understanding of the diverse culture that springs from this vast continent  - which comprises 50+ countries and more than one billion people - while keeping in line with Dóchas guidelines. A maximum of five images per applicant may be submitted, in high resolution digital format, at least 300 dpi at print size approx 297mm x 210mm (A4).

Images to be emailed to: staff@kade.ie or submitted on CD-ROM to:         

KADE, 11 Denny St, Tralee, Co. Kerry.

Photographers  must include a short biography, personal contact details and a title for every image and a short introduction to each photograph.

Deadline for receipt of entries: Sunday, April 25th, 2010, 5 p.m.


The images will be reviewed by a panel of seven judges - three Irish and four African.


Selected photographs will be mounted and exhibited at The Gallery, Siamsa Tíre from May 21st until May 28th, and at Castleisland Library from June 8th until June 22nd.

KADE, established in 1993, is a voluntary non - governmental organisation based at 11 Denny Street, Tralee, Co. Kerry. KADE aims to promote and support Development Education in Co. Kerry. KADE works to develop people's skills, knowledge and understanding of the world.

Clubheadbangbang is an award-winning non-profit Kerry community arts initiative that fosters social inclusion through education, technology and the arts. The organisation hosts a weekly cultural event featuring emerging artists in the fields of music, sound art, performance art and visuals. Clubheadbangbang also orchestrates a variety of bespoke cultural and educational events.
