Introductions of Klaus to the Local Authorities was done on Monday morning. A meeting was held between The Director, Pottar Muzamba, the visiting workshop facilitator, Klaus Hollinetz and the artistic and communications officer, Sengamo Ndlovu. Various issues were discussed including the way forward with the workshop in light of the delayed clearance of the equipment.

At the studio, various open source music and video software were looked at and one computer was set up with ubuntu studio in a bid to shift to open source software. Trial recordings and transfer of audio files to both the windows and ubuntu studio computers were made successfully in preparation for the workshop.

The workshop started on Tuesday with a note of welcome to the participants all of whom had attended the first phase of the workshop for basic audio recording and editing techniques on the 4th and 5th of December, 2007. Introductions were then made.

The participants were given an overview of the workshop, after which their expectations were discussed. Klaus then went on to give an overview of sound installations after which a visit to the Tonga museum was made. After a tour of the museum, discussions were held with regards to the possible sounds that could be collected and made part of the sound scape. The sound, which were classified into two categories, 1. riverine sounds, 2. homely sounds were then recorded at two homesteads and the riverine sounds were recorded along the Zambezi river.

These sounds were transferred to the computer and screened according to whether the participants felt they could be used or not. Editing of the sounds was then started. The rest of the sounds will be edited on the second day and the sound scape will then be created.
