Twiimbilane Studio: script writing lessons for radio drama
22 Sep 2007
As part of Tonga.Onlines skills transfer and local content development, Twiimbilane Studio conducted some free lessons on script writing for radio drama to local artistes. The lessons, which ran for three days, started on Tuesday 28th August 2007 to Thursday 30th August 2007. There were nine (9) participants of which three (3) were female.
Musicians continued having access to practice at the studio and make their trial recordings. A sound card was received for the studio from AZFA and this is set to improve the quality of the recordings made.
The studio started the year on a sad note with the death of a veteran Kankobela player, Shadreck Munsaka who recorded songs like "Mwana waDimba Limeka" and "Ndipe mali yangu". His playing and singing will be greatly missed.
There are a number of studio activities that are running and that the studio plans to run this year but cannot do so at the present moment due to lack of equipment. I will, however, just focus on the current activities and not the intended - which we can bring up some other time.
"Oceans are filled by rivers, rivers by streams and streams by rivulets" so the saying goes. As Twiimbilane graciously recieves the left hand guitar from a kind Austrian woman, Twiimbilane is growing. This gesture sends a big message to the artists and people of Binga - that there are people out there who realise their needs and not only sympathise but act to create an ocean that Twiimbilane hopes to be one day.
